MEETING THE GHOSTS: MUSIC, THE NETHERLANDS and WORLD WAR 2
Discover the lost music...
In the 1938s, Adolf Hitler held a 17-year reign over Jewish music and musicians in Europe. Jobs, royalties and instruments were stolen. The creation of new music by Jewish composers and any public performance by Jewish musicians was forbidden.
The Netherlands - a small country known for liberal ideals and political neutrality - became a battleground of ethics, bureaucratic terrorism, artistic suppression, and ultimately - survival.
Canvas Presents a 60-minute docu-concert that shares the music story of The Netherlands in The Second World War. Featuring vintage recordings, an original score played to picture, and live performances of pieces written by Dutch Jewish composers suppressed or killed during the War.
